NSW COUNTRY COCKATOOS SELECTIONS
- Published on Wednesday, 27 March 2013 01:18
A total of 13 Newcastle & Hunter players have been selected in the two NSW Country Cockatoos squads, but very disappointingly only four Seniors.
It's hard to understand how the winners (for the sixth successive year) have only 4 selectred and the runners-up (Illawarra) have 10 representatives. On the plus is the selection of nine of our Colts.
Congratulations to:-
Seniors: Lewie Catt (Wanderers), Paul Dan (Hamilton), Ben Harriss (Hamilton), Va Talaileva (Southern Beaches).
Colts: Pratik Ahuja (Merewether Carlton); Nick Cook (Wanderers); Matt Fairbairn (Hamilton); Vilai Kelemete (The Waratahs); Chris Nagy (Hamilton); Tarpaki Rahui (Easts); Blair Rush (Easts); Jackson Walsh (Wanderers); Blake Walsh (Wanderers).
SIX OF THE BEST
- Published on Monday, 25 March 2013 01:17
Newcastle & Hunter Seniors representative team clinched their sixth straight Caldwell Cup on Sunday at the final of the 2013 NSW Country Championships at Tamworth.
Following a 31-21 win on Saturday against Central North, NHRU beat Illawarra in the final 28-18. In both games, Newcastle & Hunter trailed but came back to record gutsy wins.
The NHRU Colts (Under 20s) had to settle as joint champions after a 5-all extra time draw in their final against Central West. After beating Far North Coast 46-14 on the Saturday, the Colts played a determined Central West where the half time score was 0-0. A try apiece in the second half resulted in extra time, which still couldn't separate the teams.
The NSW Country teams will be announced later this week.
